DANVILLE, Ky. - Four Midway women's swimmers combined to hit 11 national 'B' standard cuts during a busy weekend at the Speedo Midseason Invitational, hosted by Centre College Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Leading the way was
Sammy Friel, who hit cuts in four different events.Â
Friel swam a 2:14.00 in the 200-yard individual medley, a 1:00.23 in the 100 butterfly, a 1:09.66 in the 100 breaststroke and a 2:18.37 in the 200 butterfly.
Right behind were
Kaelynn Martin and
Josie Briner, who both hit three national cuts.
Martin made it in the 50 free (25.37), the 100 back (1:00.70) and the 100 fly (1:01.16). Briner hit cuts in the 200 IM (2:15.35), the 100 fly (1:00.08) and the 200 fly (2:14.46)
Katie Heath hit the 'B' standard with a swim of 1:10.90 in the 100 breast while also swimming a school-record time of 5:30.17 in the 500 free.
The Eagles won't compete again until Jan. 11, when they travel to Sewanee, Tenn. to face the University of the South at 1 p.m.
