Alyssa Tinker enters her fifth season as head coach of the eSports program at Midway University in 2024-25 after leading the program to unprecedented success last season.
The Eagles had the best season in program history during the 2023-24 campaign, with five teams putting together an accumulative record of 71-33. This was highlighted by division championships by the Rocket League (Mideast Conference, Winter 2023) and League of Legends (Southeast Region, Spring 2024) which saw both teams qualify for the NECC National Tournament. All told, four different teams set single-season win records, with Rocket League sporting a mark of 21-2 and an undefeated record of 11-0 during the fall.
Tinker was hired in January 2020 as the first-ever eSports head coach at Midway University as she led the program to its debut in 2020-21.
In her second season at the helm, Tinker led the Call of Duty, League of Legends, Overwatch, and Rocket League teams to the playoffs.
A native of nearby Georgetown, Ky., Tinker makes her return to the Bluegrass State following a stint as the head coach of the eSports program at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.
Tinker was tabbed as the head coach for the Stars in June 2019 and was in charge of scheduling and running practices for two Overwatch teams as well as forming and implementing game plans for weekly games.
Prior to taking over the program at Stephens, Tinker served as the Rainbow Six Siege manager and talent identifications scout with Self Made eSports in 2018.
Tinker got her start in eSports by serving as the manager for Rainbow Six Siege at Vyb eSports from June 2018 to September 2018. She oversaw the scheduling tournaments and provided feedback and analysis on team performance to upper management.
A graduate of Scott County High School, Tinker earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business and Technology from Eastern Kentucky University.
