Cole Smith was hired as the first women's wrestling coach in Midway history in February 2025 and will lead the Eagles in their first season of competition this fall.
Smith came to Midway after a highly decorated career as a college wrestler. After starting at NCAA Division-I Old Dominion (Va.), he transferred to Cumberland (Tenn.) where he was a four-time All-American, a run highlighted by a national championship at 165 pounds in the 2022 season.
He spent the 2024-25 season as an assistant with the Eagle men's program, where the Eagles placed a program-record nine wrestlers at the Mid-South Conference Tournament while sending three to the NAIA National Championships.
