MIDWAY, Ky. -- It was announced on Monday, October 24, by the River States Conference that for the second straight week and fourth time this season, Jacob Kocis has been named the RSC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Oct. 17-23.
He previously earned the honor earlier this year for the weeks of Oct. 10-16, Sept. 26-Oct. 2, and Aug. 22-28. The sophomore has now earned the weekly honor seven times in his career.
The last two times Kocis has taken the course he's topped his own school record, and his performance at the NAIA Appalachian Challenge last week was no different.
The Island Pond, Vt. native turned in yet another school record on his way to a seventh-place finish out of 128 total runners. He crossed the finish line with a final time of 24:45.9 which bested his then-school record by 29 seconds.
On the team side of Midway's final event of the regular season, they finished in ninth place with 228 total points.
Kocis and the rest of his team will now turn their attention to the River States Conference Championship which will be contested in Kokomo, Ind. on Nov. 5.
