PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - The Midway men's swimming team went 1-2 in a quad match at Shawnee State Saturday, picking up its second win of the year.
Both wins have come against Pikeville, with Saturday's being by the final of 129-60. The Eagles lost 162-63 to Shawnee State and 138-91 to West Virginia Tech.
Caique Nunes Maia continued his excellent freshman season with Midway's lone win in the 100-yard freestyle, where he swam a 53.46.
He also took second in the 200 free (2:01.38) and was part of a team the finished third in the 200 medley relay in 1:53.77.
Daniel Maia had a second-place finish of his own in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 2:45.30. Maia was third in the 100 breast as well, swimming a 1:14.84.
Also taking third was
David Roach in the 200 butterfly, swimming a 2:30.78.
The Eagles are back home for a triangle meet against Asbury and West Virginia Tech next Saturday.
