Euell, Cockrell Earn MSFL Player of the Week Honors

MIDWAY, Ky. — Following a dominant defensive performance in Midway University's 51-0 victory over Quincy University, two members of the Eagles' sprint football team have earned Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) Player of the Week honors.

Defensive lineman Tristian Euell was named the MSFL Defensive Player of the Week, while kicker Hayden Cockrell earned Special Teams Player of the Week recognition after helping Midway shut out the Hawks on Saturday, October 24, at Midway Turf Field.

The victory improved Midway's record to 5-1 and secured a share of the MSFL Regular Season Championship.

TRISTIAN EUELL — DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Euell delivered one of his strongest performances of the season against Quincy, recording a team-high 10 total tackles, including six solo stops.

The defensive lineman recorded 2.5 sacks for a loss of 31 yards while also forcing a fumble and recovering another.

His performance helped anchor a Midway defense that held Quincy to just 90 yards of total offense, including only 14 passing yards.

The Eagles recorded eight sacks and four interceptions while limiting the Hawks to just 1.4 yards per play.

The honor marks Euell's second career MSFL Defensive Player of the Week selection. He previously earned the recognition following Midway's 50-0 victory over Bellarmine University during the 2025 season.

In that contest, Euell recorded 11 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.

HAYDEN COCKRELL — SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cockrell continued his strong 2026 campaign with another consistent performance in Midway's shutout victory over Quincy.

The kicker connected on all five of his extra-point attempts, accounting for five points in the Eagles' victory.

Cockrell also handled three punts for 118 yards, averaging 39.3 yards per punt, with a long of 42 yards.

Two of his three punts were downed inside the Quincy 20-yard line, helping Midway maintain favorable field position throughout the contest.

In addition to his punting performance, Cockrell handled six kickoffs for 354 yards, averaging 59 yards per kickoff.

The honor adds to an impressive season for Cockrell, who has earned the MSFL Special Teams Player of the Week selections five out of the six weeks this year.
