Luther Bramblett

Luther Bramblett has been with the Midway baseball program since its inception and will begin his 10th season as Eagle head coach last spring.

Bramblett, who has won more than 700 games in his coaching career, was hired as the first-ever head baseball coach at Midway University in July 2016 as he started the program for the 2017 season.

In his first season in 2017, Bramblett led the Eagles to the River States Conference Tournament Championship and an automatic berth in the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round. He also led the Eagles to 28 victories in their first season.

In his second season in 2018, Bramblett led the Eagles to 26 victories and the school’s first winning season in program history. He followed that up with 27 victories in 2019 which included his 600th career victory as a head coach. 2020 was tough due to Covid-19, the Eagles won seven games prior to the season being canceled.

The 2022 season saw the Eagles finish with 19 wins, while they finished third in the River States Conference Tournament. Bramblett also had five players earn All-Conference honors which was the most in a single season in program history. Along with the five All-Conference honorees, the Eagles also produced the RSC Freshman of the Year and the third Gold Glove winner in program history.

That proceeded a breakthrough 2023 campaign that resulted in Midway's first-ever, first-place finish in RSC regular season play, where the Eagles recorded a record of 20-7. They parlayed that into a 6-5 win over Saint Xavier (Ill.) in the first game of the NAIA Opening Round, the first national tournament win in program history.

In 2025, the Eagles made it all the way to the championship round of the River States Conference Tournament for the first time since their title run in 2017.

This season will mark his 24th season as a head coach for Bramblett and 31st overall in college baseball. He starts the year with an overall record of 725-494-1 (.598).

Bramblett has also coached multiple players that have gone on to play baseball professionally, adding another in 2024. In the 2017 MLB Draft Hector Quinones was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 32nd round, while Jake McCoy signed a deal with the Evansville Otters. Marqusie Glenn sign a pro contract in the Puerto Rico Professional Baseball League, with Ryan Davis inking a deal with the Lexington Legends in 2024, then being drafted by the New Jersey Jackals of the Frontier Baseball League in 2025.

Bramblett has seen 37 Academic All-Americans, 78 Academic All-Conference members and 32 RSC All-Conference players while at Midway. The Eagles had a particularly strong year in the classroom in 2024 with 27 RSC Scholar-Athletes (seven more than any other team), and 19 Daktronic NAIA Scholar-Athletes, the second most of any team in the nation. Things went even better in 2025, when the Eagles had 25 Daktronic Scholar-Athletes.

Bramblett comes to Midway after a 15-year stint as the head coach at St. Catharine College. In his 15 seasons, he led the Patriots to thirteen 30+ win seasons finishing with an overall record of 532-262-1 (.595).

In 2015, Bramblett led St. Catharine to a 38-17 mark leading to a final ranking of No. 29 in the NAIA Baseball Top 25. The team also received an at-large bid to the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round for the first time in program history. The Patriots finished the season as runner-up in the MSC Tournament while finishing second in the regular season standings

Because of his team’s success on the field, Bramblett was named the Mid-South Conference Baseball Coach of the Year in 2015. Bramblett also coached two MSC Pitchers of the Year, one MSC Player of the Year as well as the MSC Co-Freshman of the Year.
