Ross Spurgeon will join the Midway baseball staff as an assistant for the 2024-25 season.

He comes to the Eagles following multiple stints on the coaching staff at Bellarmine, working primarily with the program's pitchers. In his time, he helped the Knights make a transition from NCAA Division-II to Division-I. In his two years at Cumberlands, the Patriots had two 40-plus win seasons while making the NAIA National Tournament both years.

He began coaching at the end of a Division-I playing career. In two years as a pitcher at Tennessee Tech, the Golden Eagles had a combined record of 80-36.

Spurgeon had a professional career as well, playing two seasons with the Gateway Grizzlies (Ill.) of the Frontier League, leading the team in ERA (2.37) while striking out 26 batters in 30.1 innings during the 2015 season.
