Jack Russell began his first season on the Midway University coaching staff in 2024.
Russell comes from Westminster College (Mo.) where he was the defensive coordinator for the 2023 season. His defense ranked at the top of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) in both passing defense and red zone defense while tying for the most defensive touchdowns scored. His defense also produced four All-Conference selections including first-team standout linebacker Dawson Brandt.
Before his time at Westminster, he was the linebackers coach at Illinois College which was a part of a very successful system that had multiple national rankings.
Prior to Illinois College he was at Missouri Baptist University for a total of five seasons, where he served as a player, student-coach, graduate assistant, linebackers coach and strength and conditioning coordinator in his time there.
Russell has a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Business Administration from Missouri Baptist.
