Belt takes home RSC Player of the Week honors for third time

New Albany, Ind. -- Senior goalkeeper, Emily Belt, was named the River States Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, October 16, for her performance on the field the week of October 9-15.

Belt had a career game last week in her only outing as the Midway University women's soccer team tied Asbury (Ky.) on Saturday, October 14. The Paducah, Ky. native takes home her third weekly honor of the season and the fourth of her career.

In a 1-1 tie with the Eagles, Belt made a career-high 14 saves, surrendering just one goal, while playing a total of 110 minutes in goal. Belt made numerous saves down the stretch to preserve the tie game. The draw with Asbury ended a five game skid that dated back to 2012.

With the win last week, Belt moves to 5-3-1 overall on the season. In her nine starts, she has made 55 saves for a .786 save percentage, while posting a 1.64 goals against average.

Belt ranks in the top-10 in three different statistical categories in the River States. The senior ranks sixth in total saves (55), fifth in goals against average (1.64) and fourth in saves per game (6.11). Nationally she ranks 39th in the NAIA in saves per game.

The Midway women's soccer team is now 5-3-1 on the season after last week's result. They will return to action on Tuesday, October 17, when they host Oakland City (Ind.) at the Midway Soccer Field at 1 p.m. ET.
