Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The Midway University volleyball team continued River States Conference play on Friday night when they traveled to Pittsburgh, Pa. for the first of a pair of games in the 'Steel City" with a matchup against Point Park (Pa.).
The Eagles (4-14, 0-4 RSC) were unable to slow down Point Park's offensive attack as the Pioneers (13-8, 3-2 RSC) took down the Eagles in straight sets 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-17).
Point Park tallied a .280 hitting clip with 38 kills in 93 swings, while Midway hit .098 for the match with just 15 kills in 61 total attack attempts. Both teams served up seven aces in the match.
Leading the way for Midway's offense was the duo of Jennifer Harden (Houston, Texas) and Breanna Baldwin (Yorktown, Ind.). Both finished the match with five kills apiece, while Harden hit .042 for the match and Baldwin tallied a .133 hitting percentage.
Running the offense for the Eagles was junior setter, Ashley Sherrard (Louisville, Ky.). Sherrard collected 10 of Midway's 13 assists in the match.
Leading the way for the defense was Harden, who collected a game-high 13 digs. Junior libero, Hannah Payne (Louisville, Ky.) added eight, while Kylie Flatt (Louisville, Ky.) and Baldwin pitched in with six digs apiece.
Midway will wrap up their two game trip to Pittsburgh, Pa. on Saturday afternoon when they take on Carlow (Pa.) at noon ET.
