SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. -- The Midway University volleyball team returned to action on Friday when they made the trip to Saint Mary of the Woods, Indiana to take on West Virginia Tech in a non-conference battle in the SMWC Volleyball Classic.
The Eagles (2-7) had a tough time getting their offense going against West Virginia Tech. The Golden Bears finished the match with 37 kills compared to just 20 from the Eagles as they went on to win in straight sets 3-0 (25-11, 26-24, 25-20).
After a dismal first set, the Eagles started to find a little bit of a rhythm in the second frame. The Eagles trailed 16-11, but won 13 of the next 15 points to grab the 24-18 advantage.
Unfortunately for Midway, they wouldn't score again as the Golden Bears (13-3) battled back and won the next eight points en route to a 28-26 victory in the second set. WVU Tech went on to win the match after a 25-20 win in the third set.
