Alysha Tullar named RSC Volleyball Attacker of the Week

MIDWAY, Ky. -- For the second time this season, Alysha Tullar of the Midway University women's volleyball team has been named the River States Conference Volleyball Attacker of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

The weekly honor is the second of the season for the junior, while it also is the second of her career. She previously earned the honor earlier this year on September 23.

The junior from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. posted a big time week last week to help lead the Eagles to a 2-1 mark with both of their wins coming against River States Conference foes.

In her three matches last week, Tullar posted 69 kills, while carding a .304 hitting clip to lead the Midway offense. In her 11 sets played, she averaged 6.27 kills per set.

In her first outing of the week, she posted 19 kills and eight digs in a 3-1 loss to Berea (Ky.). It was an efficient outing for the junior as she finished with a .259 hitting clip in the match.

Then in a 3-1 victory over IU East – which was Midway's first-ever victory over the Red Wolves – Tullar went for a match-high 25 kills, while tying the match-high with 16 digs. In that outing, she finished with a .234 attacking percentage.

She capped off her stellar week with another efficient outing against Ohio Christian. In a 3-0 sweep of the Trailblazers, Tullar went for 25 kills, while committing just four miscues in 46 swings to finish with a .457 hitting clip – her best of the season.

Following last week's performances, the junior transfer from Mt. San Antonio College (Calif.) now has 371 kills on the season for an average of 4.88 kills per set. She also has 184 digs on the year and is compiling 2.4 digs per set.

Alysha Tullar not only leads the RSC in kills per set, but she is also leading the country in that category. She is also leading the RSC in total kills, while ranking 15th in the NAIA.

Tullar has helped lead the Eagles to an 11-11 mark on the season overall and a 4-5 record in River States Conference play. They're scheduled to return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Oakland City (Ind.) at 8 p.m. ET.
