PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- After getting a pair of non-conference victories on Tuesday over Cincinnati-Clermont (Ohio) and Alice Lloyd (Ky.), the Midway women's volleyball team returned to River States Conference play on Friday night when they battled Point Park (Pa.).
It was the first of two games in the Steel City for the Eagles this weekend as the Pioneers rolled the Eagles in straight sets for the 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-13, 25-16).
With the loss, Midway falls to 15-13 overall and 5-7 in RSC play as they wrap up their trip to Pittsburgh, Pa. on Saturday when they take on Carlow (Pa.) at noon ET.
Point Park – who improved to 19-8 overall and 9-4 in RSC play with the win – posted 36 kills and a .261 hitting percentage en route to the 3-0 victory. They also carded eight blocks holding Midway to just 24 kills and a .072 attacking percentage.
As has been the case throughout the season, Midway's offensive production was led by the duo of Alysha Tullar (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) and Brooke Trompler (Campton, Ky.). Tullar finished with 10 kills, while Trompler chipped in eight kills and six digs.
Ashlee Simpson (Somerset, Ky.) led the defensive effort with 11 digs, while Madi Eberst (Chillicothe, Ohio) collected another double-double. The sophomore had her 13th double-double of the season with 15 assists and 10 digs.
