Box Score

NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Following a perfect 2-0 record last week in a pair of conference matchups, the Midway women's volleyball team continued their recent hot streak with a road win at IU Southeast (Ind.) on Tuesday night in New Albany.

Midway didn't have their best offensive performance, but they carded 15 more kills than the home team as they claimed their fourth consecutive victory with the 3-0 sweep (25-17, 25-17, 25-21) of the Grenadiers.

Tuesday's win marks the first time in program history that Midway has defeated the Grenadiers in a road contest in New Albany. The win also completes the season sweep of IU Southeast for the first time.

Following the victory, Jonea Rima's club improves to 13-2 overall and 7-2 in River States Conference play. The Grenadiers, meanwhile, drop to 10-9 overall and 6-3 in league play with the loss.

Midway's offense finished the match with 38 kills in their 119 swings to finish with a .151 hitting clip, while the Grenadiers carded just 23 kills in their 129 attempts for a .047 hitting clip.

The Eagles grabbed a commanding two sets to none lead after using big runs in the first two sets to win by identical scores of 25-17. They used a 10-2 run in the first set and an 11-2 run in the second to claim the 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set was a bit more of a battle for the visitors as they scored back-to-back points to tie the set at 14. The Eagles then used a 6-1 run to build a five-point cushion to win the set 25-21 and clinch the 3-0 sweep.

Leading the offensive effort was the reigning RSC Attacker of the Week, Brooke Trompler (Campton, Ky.). She finished with 11 kills, while Alysha Tullar (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) and Aubry Koester (Apple Valley, Calif.) added seven kills apiece. Tullar also picked up a season-high 13 digs.

Kaylee Criswell (Rockdale, Texas) and Meghan Adams (Hopkinsville, Ky.) had efficient outings recording five and four kills in their six and seven attempts, respectively.

Valerie Ramos (San Juan, Puerto Rico) finished with 14 assists and eight digs, while Evelyn Milburn (Versailles, Ky.) added 11 assists and eight digs.

The reining RSC Defender of the Week, Mariana Rodriguez, posted her best performance of the season recording a season-high 28 digs in the win.

The Eagles are scheduled to return to action on Friday (Oct. 15) when they host Ohio Valley (W. Va.) – the newcomer to the league – at 7 p.m. ET in Marshall Gymnasium.
