Men's Cross Country set to run in NAIA National Championship on Friday

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Following a flight out to the Pacific Northwest earlier this week, the Midway men's cross country team is set to race in the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship in Vancouver, Wash. on Friday.

The 8k race will start at 1:30 p.m. ET (10:30 a.m. PT) at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Championship Course. The race will be streamed live and can be found HERE, while live results can be found HERE. Results are not finalized until after the review period.

The Eagles eared an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship after winning the River States Conference Championship on November 6 in Richmond, Indiana.

Midway claimed their first conference championship in program history following a one-point victory over IU Kokomo (Ind.) and Point Park (Pa.). The meet victory was the fourth of the season, while it was their sixth overall in program history.

At the conference championship the Eagles were led by the brother duo of Jacob Kocis (Island Pond, Vt.) and Josiah Kocis (Island Pond, Vt.) who each earned First Team All-Conference honors after finishing inside the top seven.

Midway also got big time performances from Jacob Stinnett (Leitchfield, Ky.), Luke Logan (Elizabethtown, Ky.), and Ethan New (Whitley City, Ky.) who rounded out the scoring and helped clinch the victory.

Because of his efforts throughout the season, Jay Walls was voted as the RSC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. The Louisville, Ky. native has taken the Midway cross country programs to new heights since his arrival in December 2017.

The Eagles – who are making their first-ever appearance at the NAIA National Championship – are one of four teams doing so since 2010: Grace (Ind.), Michigan-Dearborn, and Missouri Baptist.

This year, the 66th Annual Men's Cross Country National Championship features 36 teams and 82 individuals.
