MIDWAY, Ky. -- After receiving an opening round bye, the Midway University women's basketball team will begin postseason play on Wednesday night in the River States Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.

The RSC Tournament began on Monday with the first round where it was determined that Midway would battle West Virginia Tech in the Quarterfinals. Tipoff is set for 5:15 p.m. ET at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center in Beckley, West Virginia on Wednesday.

The Golden Bears earned a spot in the quarterfinals after defeating Carlow (Pa.) in their first-round matchup. WVU Tech defeated the Celtics by a final score of 96-48 as they had five players reach double figures led by Brittney Justice who had 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Due to COVID-19, the RSC Administrative Council approved a new format for the RSC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships this year. Pairings were determined using a double-blind draw in a pairings show that was held on February 17.

Midway and WVU Tech met earlier this year on January 26 in a game that saw the Golden Bears slip away with a 75-67 victory in Marshall Gymnasium. In that meeting, the visitors outscored the home team 25-15 in the fourth stanza en route to the win.

The Golden Bears – who are currently 9-8 on the season – are led by the Brittney and Whitney Justice who are each averaging double figures. B. Justice is averaging 16.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest, while W. Justice adds 12.9 points per game.

Midway – who closed the regular season at 13-7 overall – has four players averaging double figures led by Allyson Callahan (Morehead, Ky.) with 14.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Jill Enix (Pineville, Ky.) adds 13.4 PPG and 5.2 RPG, while Leah Shelley (LaCenter, Ky.) chips in 10.2 PPG and 5.6 RPG. Kindall Talley (Frankfort, Ky.), meanwhile, adds 10.1 PPG.

The winner of the Midway-WVU Tech matchup will meet the winner of the Asbury (Ky.) and Oakland City (Ind.) matchup in the RSC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday (Feb. 27).

Live stats and live video will be provided for Wednesday's matchup. West Virginia Tech's attendance policy can be found here.
