Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Midway University women's volleyball team continued their perfect start to the season on Tuesday (Sept. 7) when they took care of Boyce (Ky.) in straight sets in Louisville.
In front of a packed house at the Honeycutt Center Gym, the Eagles served a season-high 19 aces en route to claiming the 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-11, 25-12).
With the win, Midway continues their perfect start to the 2021 season improving to 4-0, while Boyce falls to 2-3 in their five matches thus far this season.
Midway finished the contest with a .263 hitting clip posting 30 kills in 76 swings, while Boyce carded just 12 kills with 16 miscues in 72 attempts for a -.056 attacking clip. The big advantage came in serves where Midway served 19 aces compared to just six from the Bulldogs.
Boyce held an early lead in the first set, but the Eagles battled back with a 9-2 run before claiming the first set with a 25-18 victory.
The second set saw Midway sprint to a 12-5 lead and the third set saw the visitors soar to an 8-0 lead as the Blue and Gold cruised to the victory behind a 25-11 win in the second set before completing the sweep with a 25-12 victory in the final stanza.
The offensive attack was led by Meghan Adams (Hopkinsville, Ky.) who recorded seven kills in eight swings for a .875 hitting clip. Alysha Tullar (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.), meanwhile, added six kills, while Tori Richman (Fort Wayne, Ind.) chipped in five kills and four service aces.
Evelyn Milburn (Versailles, Ky.) ran the offense and finished with 14 assists to go with her five services aces, while Mariana Rodriguez (Houston, Texas) notched team-highs with seven service aces and six digs. Valerie Ramos (San Juan, Puerto Rico) also added six assists in the win.
Jonea Rima's club will now enjoy a week off as they're scheduled to return to action on Sept. 14 when they travel to Asbury (Ky.), who made the transition to the NCAA DIII ranks in the offseason. First serve is set for 7 p.m. ET in Wilmore.
