MIDWAY, Ky. – The Midway University women's soccer team celebrated its annual Senior Day on Saturday afternoon when it hosted IU Kokomo in a River States Conference match. Unfortunately, the Cougars put a damper on the festivities and pulled out a 4-2 win thanks to a trio of second half goals.

With the loss, Midway falls to 3-7-4 overall and 1-5-3 in the RSC while IU Kokomo improves to a 11-1-3 record overall and a conference mark of 7-0-1.

IU Kokomo scored first when it found the back of the net in the 19th minute. The Eagles were able to battle back, finding an early second half equalizer in the 48th minute when Taylor Harley (Lawrenceburg, Ky.) scored off an assist from Maggie Sauer (Henderson, Ky.).

In the 60th minute, the Eagles took a 2-1 lead when Sauer scored her team-leading 10th of the year with the assist courtesy of Mariana Casey (Georgetown, Ky.). The visiting Cougars found an equalizer of their own in the 62nd minute and claimed a lead they would not relinquish with a goal in the 78th minute. Just one minute later, IU Kokomo added an insurance tally to close out the scoring.

For the game, IU Kokomo outshot the Eagles 17-7 but Midway was led by goals from Harley and Sauer. In between the pipes, Yasmeen Shalash (Nicholasville, Ky.) recorded five saves in the contest.

Midway women's soccer closes out its season on Thursday, October 27 when it faces off with Ohio Christian in an RSC match.  Opening kickoff against the Trailblazers is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Circleville, Ohio.
