MIDWAY, Ky. – The Midway esports squad had a bit of an up-and-down week while compiling a 2-2 record. Overwatch saw its record improve to 4-1 on the season with a 3-0 victory over Champlain (Vt.) while the Call of Duty squad picked up a victory via forfeit. Unfortunately, the League of Legends team suffered a 2-0 loss to Louisville while Rocket League dropped its first match of the season by a 3-1 score to North Alabama.
With the split this week, the Eagles have compiled an aggregate record of 16-9 this season.
Rocket League saw its record fall to 5-1 with its 3-1 loss to the Lions. The team was led offensively by Nate Martin (Pickerington, Ohio) who scored two goals in the contest to go along with a pair of assists and six saves. Lonnie W. Loveless III (Somerset, Ky.) led the defensive effort with nine saves while adding a goal and an assist on the offensive end. Trevor Alexander (Somerset, Ky.) chipped in with a goal and an assist while also making three saves.
In Overwatch, the Eagles picked up a 3-0 victory over the Cavaliers while Call of Duty picked up a second consecutive win by forfeit on Wednesday evening. On Wednesday night, the League of Legends team suffered a 2-0 loss in a match with regional rivals Louisville.
Coach Alyssa Tinker's squads will return to action at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, November 4 when the Rocket League team faces off with Brescia (Ky.). Sunday, November 6 will see the Overwatch team do battle with SUNY Potsdam at 7 p.m. ET.
Call of Duty and League of Legends will compete on Wednesday evening. The COD opponent and game time is to be announced while League of Legends takes to the screen at 5:30 p.m. ET against Northern Illinois. The Overwatch gamers wrap up the week when they play on Thursday, November 10 against Clark (Ont.) at 7 p.m. ET.
