SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- After wrapping up the home portion of their schedule earlier in the week, the Midway women's volleyball team hit the road on Friday when they traveled to St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) for a River States Conference matchup.

Midway took the opening set, but the home team battled back and won the second and third sets to take a 2-1 lead. The Eagles forced a fifth set, but the Pomeroys won the decisive fifth set to win the match 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 25-18, 22-25, 15-12).

Following the loss, Jonea Rima's club slips to 17-5 overall and 12-5 in RSC play, while the Pomeroys improve to 25-6 overall and 11-6 in league play with the win.

It was a tough night for the Midway offensive attack as they committed 40 errors to finish with a .054 hitting mark in the loss. St. Mary-of-the-Woods, meanwhile, registered 46 kills and finished with a .137 hitting mark.

The Eagles seemed to be in good shape in the fifth frame when they twice held a three-point lead. They held a 9-6 edge, but the Pomeroys closed the set on a 9-3 run to clinch the five-set victory with a 15-12 win in the final stanza.

Brooke Trompler (Campton, Ky.) led the way for the Eagles with 15 kills and 10 digs. Aubry Koester (Apple Valley, Calif.) added 11 kills, while Pilar Daugherty (Las Cruces, N.M.) finished with nine kills, 31 assists and 18 digs in the loss.

Valerie Ramos (San Juan, Puerto Rico) dished out 14 assists and collected 16 digs, while Mariana Rodriguez (Houston, Texas) led the defensive effort with 29 digs. Anju Sugiya (Tokyo, Japan), meanwhile, finished with 12 digs for the Eagles.

The Eagles are set to wrap up their regular season on Saturday (Nov. 5) when they battle IU Kokomo (Ind.) at noon ET.
