OWENSBORO, Ky. - Three days after being named River States Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week, Haylee Applegate delivered a more than satisfying encore.

Applegate expanded on her recent offensive explosion with five goals, including three in an insane 3-minute, 42-second stretch, as the Eagles moved back above .500 in River States play with a 6-2 win at Brescia Thursday night. The sophomore from Flemingsburg, Ky. also had an assist, giving her 10 goals and two assists over her last three games.

Her five goals were the most any Midway player has scored in a game since at least 2008, the first year the program had stats recorded in an online database.

She started fast with an unassisted goal in the 11th minute, then found Evie Clare just over three minutes later, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

The Bearcats pulled even at halftime after scoring twice in 2:19, but the tight contest was completely taken over by Applegate three minutes into the second half.

She first scored off a great pass from Anna Kneisley in the 49th minute. She then benefitted from two fortunate bounces off Clare shots in just over 90 seconds, first scoring off a shot off the cross bar in the 51st minute, then rebounding a save in the 53rd.

Even then she wasn't done, as Applegate managed to put a bow on her dominant night with another unassisted goal in the 80th minute.

As was the score, Midway's record at night's end was 6-2. After after dropping two of their first three RSC games, the Eagles have won two straight in league play to move their record to 3-2.

Before closing the year with six straight home games, the Eagles have one more road tilt on Saturday, when they travel to face Indiana Kokomo at 3 p.m. Saturday.
