MIDWAY, Ky. - The eSports season is underway at Midway University, with all three competitive Eagle teams earning at least one win in the first week of action.
ROCKET LEAGUE
Rocket League competition actually began a week earlier than the rest, as Midway opened with a 3-0 win over Wilkes University before falling 3-0 to Illinois State Sept. 8.
Trevor Howard and Alex Oditt each scored two goals in the opening round against Wilkes, a 3-1 win, while Nicholas Newman had two goals in the second, a 3-0 triumph. Midway won the final game 3-1.
It was a similar story in the second week of action, with the Eagles topping Marion Tech 3-0 in its opener, with Howard (eight goals) and Newman (five goals) leading the way.
This was followed up by a 3-0 loss to the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez.
CALL OF DUTY
The Eagles opened the year Sept. 13 win a 3-0 win over USF Code Green. Alex Oditt led the charge with 64 kills, with Jonathan Cain adding 51 in the sweep.
LEAGUE OF LEGENDS
Beginning the season on Sept. 13 as well, the League of Legends team dropped its opening matchup 1-0 against the University of Louisville Black team, but responded with a 1-0 win against Illinois Wesleyan Titan Spear in game two.
OVERWATCH
The Overwatch team also opened the year by splitting two matches on Sept. 14. The Eagles defeated Hastings 2-1 before falling to Cincinnati White by the same score.
