Box Score NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Following a tough loss earlier in the week, the Midway women's volleyball team returned to action on Friday (Sept. 22) when they traveled to New Albany, Ind. for a River States Conference matchup against IU Southeast (Ind.).
It was a tough outing for the Blue and Gold as they struggled to slow down the Grenadiers, suffering a 3-0 defeat (25-12, 25-20, 25-20).
The Grenadiers – who improved to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in RSC play – carded a .246 hitting clip with 43 kills in their 126 swings. The home team also served up 14 aces compared to zero service aces by the Eagles.
Aubry Koester (Apple Valley, Calif.) led the way, posting a triple-double with 10 kills, 13 assists, and 11 digs. She also recorded a .391 hitting percentage in the defeat.
Anju Sugiya (Tokyo, Japan) added seven kills and nine digs, while Hannah Brink (Greenville, Mich.) chipped in six kills. Emily Slaughter (Gallatin, Tenn.) led the way defensively with 21 digs, and Kylie Kohrs (Fort Thomas, Ky.) finished with seven.
Midway – who falls to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in league play – is set to return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 26) when they take on St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) at 7 p.m. ET.
