SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Midway women's volleyball team was back in action on Tuesday night when they traveled to the 'Hoosier State' to battle Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) in a River States Conference bout.

The Eagles got off to a fantastic start, winning the first set 25-19, but that fast start wouldn't last as the Pomeroys battled back and claimed the 3-1 victory (19-25, 25-23, 25-12, 25-15).

Midway, who falls to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in league play with the loss, posted a .323 hitting mark, but the pace soon slowed as they were held to a negative attacking clip in the final two sets.

The Pomeroys (16-2, 4-1 RSC), meanwhile, hit over .200 in each of the four sets, including a .538 hitting percentage in the third frame. For the match, the home squad carded a .313 attacking mark with 61 kills in their 131 swings.

Aubry Koester (Apple Valley, Calif.) and Hannah Brink (Greenville, Mich.) led the way on the defensive end with eight kills apiece. Koester also led the team with 14 assists and 13 digs.

Meghan Adams (Paducah, Ky.) chipped in seven kills, while Katherine Rodrigue Ortiz (Fajardo, Puerto Rico) passed out 10 assists in the loss. Kylie Kohrs (Fort Thomas, Ky.), meanwhile, recorded 11 digs.

Midway is set to return to action on Thursday (Sept. 28) when they travel to nearby Georgetown (Ky.). First serve is set for 7 p.m. ET.
