Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Following a couple of days off after a busy first week of the season, the Midway women's volleyball team was back in action on Thursday when they traveled to Campbellsville (Ky.) for a non-conference matchup.
It was a tough night for the Blue and Gold as they struggled to keep pace with the Tigers, who posted a .238 hitting clip en route to a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-21, 25-19).
Following the loss, the Eagles fall to 4-2 on the season, while Campbellsville improves to 4-8 on the year.
The Eagles put down 37 kills in their 130 swings, but they committed 20 miscues which led to a .131 hitting mark. Campbellsville, meanwhile, compiled 44 kills and committed just 14 errors in their 126 attempts.
Leading the way for the Eagles was Aubry Koester, who just missed a double-double. The junior from Apple Valley, Calif. finished with 15 kills and eight digs, while she also tied the team-high with two service aces.
Emily Slaughter (Gallatin, Tenn.) finished with eight kills and nine digs, while Nyla Gaines, a freshman from Lexington, Ky., posted the best outing of her young career with eight kills and a .375 attacking percentage.
Valerie Ramos (San Juan, Puerto Rico) ran the offense and dished out 30 assists to go with her 12 digs. Kylie Kohrs (Fort Thomas, Ky.) recorded a team-high 14 digs to lead the defensive effort, while Emma Krutsinger (Corbin, Ky.) picked up a season-high 11 digs in the loss.
Midway is set to return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 12) when they welcome Brescia (Ky.) to Marshall Gymnasium for their River States Conference opener at 7 p.m. ET.
