Outside shots don't fall for women's basketball in loss at Alice Lloyd

Box Score

PIPPA PASSES, Ky. - Three players scored in double figures, but Midway struggled to shoot and corral one of the league's best players in a 78-69 River States Conference women's basketball loss to in-state rival Alice Lloyd Saturday.

Midway shot just 36 percent from the floor and made only 4-of-23 3-point shot attempts. The Eagles didn't make a single three from the 5:20 mark of the first quarter all the way until there was 50 seconds remaining in the third, missing 11 straight in that time.

The defense also struggled to contain Hannah Kash. The River State's second-leading scorer, Kash improved on her 22.1 points-per-game average Saturday, scoring 26.

Despite some early foul trouble, Sereniti Webb was still able to earn a seventh double-double in 12 games with a 14-point, 12-rebound effort.

Jermyra Christian led all bench players with 13 points, while Bree Howard had her third double-digit scoring effort with 10.

Midway falls to 8-13 overall with a 4-7 mark in the RSC. The Eagle get a week off before traveling to face Indiana East (8-12, 3-7) at 1 p.m. next Saturday.
