PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - Behind seven wins and five second-place finishes, the Midway women's swim team came out victorious in a triangle meet against Shawnee State and West Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles defeated Shawnee 370-323 while topping the Bears 379-190.
Three Eagles earned multiple wins, with Josie Briner taking top honors in four.
Briner won the 200-meter butterfly in 2:39.78 and the 100 fly in 1:10.18.
In relays, she won the 200 medley with Kaelynn Martin, Sammy Friel and Amber Klose in 2:10.60 and the 200 free with Martin, Friel and Madison Richey in 1:58.31.
Friel, (800 free, 10:57.70) and Martin (50 free, 29.15) also won individual races, as did Katie Heath, who swam a 5:25.90 in the 400 free.
Klose, Heath, Martin, Friel and Autumn Young each earned second-place finishes too.
Klose swam the 200 free in 2:31.68, Heath the 100 breaststroke in 1:25.90, Young the 200 breast in 3:20.86, Martin the 100 fly in 1:13.79 and Friel the 200 individual medley in 2:44.07.
These were the second and third wins of the season for Midway, which will host West Virginia Tech in a dual in Versailles next Saturday at 1 p.m.
