Box Score MIDWAY, Ky. - An up-and-down regular season ended on a positive note, and the Midway women's basketball team gave itself a nice shot of adrenaline entering the postseason.
Sereniti Webb had her 10th double-double of the year, and the Eagles dominated the glass and the fourth quarter, closing out River States Conference play with a 72-60 win over Indiana University East.
The Red Wolves had no answer for Webb in the low post, as she finished with 13 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.
She wasn't the only double-digit rebounder for the Eagles Saturday. Trinity Johnson finished with 10 as Midway held a 59-42 edge on the glass.
Midway proceeded to close things out with one of its best defensive periods of the season, holding the Red Wolves to six points and 17 percent shooting (3-of-17) in the fourth quarter.
Fresh off a double-double, Jacie Chesser had another great game off the bench with 12 points and seven rebounds. Kassidy Daugherty and Atlantis White added 11 and each made three 3-pointers for Midway, which concludes the regular season 12-16 overall and 8-10 in the RSC.
The win helped Midway land the No. 8 seed in the upcoming River States Tournament. The Eagles will host ninth-seeded Alice Lloyd (11-16, 6-11) in the opening round Monday.
Alice Lloyd defeated Midway 78-69 in the team's lone meeting in Pippa Passes on Jan. 27, but is just 1-6 since.
