Friel wins twice in regular season women's swimming finale

WILMORE, Ky. - Sammy Friel earned win in two events to lead the Midway women's swimming team in its final tune-up for the postseason.

The Eagles took part in a pair of duals Saturday, losing 225-133 to Asbury (Ky.) and 103-87 to Anderson (Ind.).

Friel's wins came in the the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke. She finished the 200 free in 2:07.46 and the 100 breast in an even 1:13.

Elsewhere, Katie Heath, Josie Briner and Amber Klose had second-place swims on Saturday. Heath swam the 1,000 free in 12:45.15, Briner the 50 free in 26.25 and Klose the 400 individual medley in 5:27.08.

The Eagles will now prepare for the Mid-South Conference Championships, which will be held in Danville, Ky. Feb. 6-8.
