MIDWAY, Ky. -- The Midway women's soccer team concluded its 2025 season on Saturday night when it hosted IU East (Ind.) for Senior Day at the Midway Turf Field.
The Red Wolves got a goal 21:23 into the contest and rode a strong defensive effort to a 1-0 victory.
Prior to kickoff, the Eagles honored eight departing seniors that included:
Sydney Gabbard,
Annie Pendygraft,
Kylie Hudgins,
Nadia Meeks,
Jameela Shalash,
Haylee Applegate,
Flo De Castro, and
Allie Bischoff.
IU East (10-5-3, 7-2-1 RSC) held a 12-7 edge in shots overall and a 4-3 edge in shots on frame. The Red Wolves were denied in their first shot on frame, but then Asia Espiritu gave her team the lead with her eighth goal of the season.
Perhaps Midway's best opportunity to score came early in the second half when
Annabel Young had her shot denied by the crossbar. Hudgins accounted for three of Midway's shots, while Applegate chipped in two shots of her own.
The Eagles conclude the 2025 season with a 5-10-1 record overall and a 3-7 mark in River States Conference play.
