Midway baseball returning to action Jan. 30

MIDWAY, Ky. - Another challenging season awaits the Midway baseball program, which will open the 2026 campaign on Jan. 30.

For the third year in a row, the Eagles will begin the season in Lawrenceville, Ga., where they will play a combined four games against Rust (Miss.) and host Georgia Gwinnett.

Jan. 30 will feature an 11 a.m. game against Rust and a 5 p.m. game against Gwinnett. The Eagles will again face the Bearcats at 11 a.m. on Jan. 31 before taking on the Grizzlies at 2 p.m.

Gwinnett, which was 56-7 a season ago, is one of two Midway opponents that made the NAIA World Series a season ago. The other will be the University of the Cumberlands (50-12 last season), which will come to Midway on April 7 before hosting the Eagles a week later.

The home opener will also offer a big challenge, via a visit from Indiana Tech for a pair of doubleheaders Feb. 14-15. The Warriors went 38-21 in 2025 and qualified for the NAIA Opening Round after winning the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference for the second year in a row.

All told, the Eagles will play 14 games against 2025 national qualifiers, including six in River States Conference play.

Midway will host defending league champion Oakland City, which defeated the Eagles in the RSC championship game last season, on March 6-7. The final home series on the conference slate will then come against 2025 at-large qualifier Indiana Southeast on April 17-18.

Other dates of note are Feb. 27-28, when the Eagles host Brescia in the opening series of RSC play, and April 24-25, when the regular season ends with a trip to West Virginia Tech.
