PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- The Midway women's volleyball team was in action on Saturday for the final time in the 2025 season as they took on Shawnee State (Ohio) in a River States Conference tilt in Portsmouth.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, the season ended with a 3-0 loss (25-9, 25-14, 25-22).
The Bears (21-11, 10-6 RSC) hit .464 in the first set and used runs of 5-0, 9-0, and 6-0 to jump out to a 1-0 lead after winning the set handily. The Eagles, meanwhile, hit -.103 in the first set and unfortunately didn't improve much in the second set.
Trailing two sets to none, the Eagles used a 5-0 run to grab a 10-6 lead in the third frame. They would continue to maintain the lead at 17-15 and 22-21, but Shawnee State closed on a 4-0 run to clinch the 3-0 victory.
Ava Benner led the Eagles with six kills, while
Alyssa Medeiros and
Zoie Hays chipped in five and four, respectively.
Lindsey Whitehouse dished out 13 assists and
Makenna Depue had six, while
Blair Riney led the defensive effort with 10 digs.
Midway concludes the 2025 season with a 1-24 record overall and an 0-15 mark in RSC play.
