MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway saw an 11-point second-half lead evaporate, as Alice Lloyd took control on both ends of the floor to win 94-83 in a non-conference men's basketball game at Marshall Gymnasium Saturday.
Despite shooting 64 percent in the first half, the home Eagles struggled to get much separation, leading just 48-46 over the visiting Eagles at the half.
That separation appeared to happen early in the second half. After Alice Lloyd took a 52-51 lead, Midway responded by scoring the next 12 points, taking a 65-54 lead on an
Amari Wales fastbreak layup.
But that immediately gave way to a Landon Napier 3-pointer, which started a stretch in which Alice Lloyd scored on 11-consecutive possessions. By the the end of that stretch, the visitors led 82-75.
Midway wouldn't get closer than five points again as it was outscored 40-18 over the final 14:10.
All five Alice Lloyd starters scored at least 14 points. ALC also finished plus-nine (16-7) in turnovers and had 10 second half offensive rebounds that led to 10 second-chance points.
Tim Fuller led Midway in scoring with 17 points.
Returning to the lineup after missing four games, Wales had 14 points and led all players with seven assists, while
Decoreio Smith had a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Eagles, who conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 3-8 record.
Midway is off until Jan. 3, when it travels to Portsmouth, Ohio to take on RSC foe Shawnee State at 3 p.m.
