MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway men's wrestling earned an additional bid for the national tournament, with heavyweight
Aaron Garcia securing an at-large selection.
Garcia was able to earn his bid because of his efforts during the season. He had two wins over ranked opponents that gave him standing over other wrestlers who had automatically qualified or the tournament that had lost to those opponents earlier in the season. This is is Aaron's first trip to the national tournament.
He will join
Kyler Adams (149) and
Abe Hafez (165), who earned their spots for their at the Mid-South Conference Championships placing fourth and fifth respectfully.
Head Coach
Kenny Mason had this to say when asked about his expectations: "We are disappointed we couldn't get get a few more at-large bids, but we could not be more exited for Aaron for getting a bid as well as Kyler and Abe to get to the dance. It's anyone's tournament to win, we just have to go out and trust in the work we have done to prepare for this moment."
These wrestlers will compete for an All-American status at the NAIA National Championships, which will run from March 6-8 in Witchita, Kas.
