NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Midway men's tennis won for the third day in a row and earned a 2-0 River States Conference win on Friday with a 6-1 victory on the road at Indiana Southeast.
Midway lost just seven total games at singles positions Nos. 2-6, with
Manuel Mirabal and
Tyler Fox both earning 6-0, 6-0 wins. Mirabal beat DJ Hall at No. 4 with Fox beating Brenna Cooper at No. 6.
German Collado and
Tyler Goldfine also won by identical scores, Collado beating Trey Gutgsell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, Goldfine beating Doran Martin by the same tally at No. 5.
Aleksey Granitsa had little trouble at No. 3, winning 6-1, 6-2 against Paxton Evitts.
Fox also earned himself a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, teaming with Granitsa to beat Brennan Cooper and Doran Martin.
Elsewhere in doubles,
Ferran Clapes and Collado won 6-3 over Keith Asplund and Gutgsell at No. 1, with
Axel Sperling and
Izan Casado winning 6-2 at No. 2 against Hall and Evitts.
Before hosting an Oakland City team that has beating them at each of the last two River States Conference Championships, the Eagles host in-state foe Asbury on Tuesday.
