ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Midway bowler
Charlie Smith had a great close to his sophomore season over the weekend, narrowly missing the top-20 at the Intercollegiate Singles Sectional Qualifier in Allen Park, Mich.
In the 180-man field, Smith came in 21st, knocking down 1,321 pins over six games for a 220.2 average.
He topped 200 pins in five of six games and was at his best in game two, where he recorded a score of 254. He was just two pins behind Rober Morris' James Meyer for the 20th spot.
Smith was one of two Bulldogs to compete at the event, with
Vincent Biehn also cracking the top-50.
Biehn finished in 46th with 1,272 pins (212 average). His best performance was a 257 in game three, which was the fourth-best score of the entire round.
