CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A new-look Midway men's bowling team began the season in a difficult environment, tying for 29th-place at the Tier-I Midwest Collegiate Championships, which were held on Saturday and Sunday.
The Eagles had a final score of 7,724, getting 4,772 points in team play and 2,952 in Baker.
Midway had two bowlers finish inside the top-50 and was led by the 24th-place showing of
Ryan Tuite, who knocked down 1,044 pins for a five-game average of 208.8.
Tuite shook off a rough first game by easily eclipsing 200 pins in the remaining four, topping out a 223 in game three.
Freshman Jonathan Hatcher came in 49th with 1,012 pins (202.4 average). Hatcher also had his best showing in game three with a 244, which tied for the sixth best round of anyone in the game and was Midway's best individual game of the weekend.
The Eagles topped 200 pins in 16 Baker games, including a score of 247 in the seventh.
Midway is back at it next Saturday at the Columbia 300 Western Shootout in Indianapolis.
