BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - After
an opening-round win on Thursday, the Midway men's bowling team went up against the top-two seeds of the double-elimination Mid-South Men's Bowling Championships on Friday, dropping both matches.
No. 1 seed Cumberland (Tenn.) swept the Eagles in a best-of-three format, winning th first set 988-856 and the second 953-924.
This set up what turned out to be a highly competitive, best-of-seven elimination matchup with No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan, with Midway unfortunately falling 4-2.
The teams traded wins in the first four games, the Bulldogs winning the first (190-169) and third (207-160) and the Eagles snatching games two (185-154) and four (202-173).
Midway got right on the cusp of stealing momentum in game six but lost by the narrowest margin possible, as TWU earned a 213-212 win. The Bulldogs then seized the moment and dominated game six by the final of 258-167.
Currently, the Eagles have one more competition on their schedule, the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis next Saturday and Sunday.Â
