Eagle men win, women fall in opening round of MSC Bowling Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - It was a mixed first day of action for the Midway men's and women's bowling teams at the Mid-South Conference Championships, as the Eagle men won their opener, while the women were sent to the loser's bracket.

The fifth-seeded men's team had little trouble in its 2-0 win over No. 4-seed Campbellsville, winning by over 100 pins in both sets. The Eagles won the opener 922-813 and the second 981-819.

Midway will now take on top seed Cumberland (Tenn.) at 9 a.m. Eastern Standard Time Friday morning. The Phoenix advanced with a 2-0 win over No. 8 seed Cumberlands (Ky.) Thursday.

On the women's side, fifth-seeded Midway lost 2-0 to No. 4 Cumberlands. The Patriots took the first set 887-827 then won the second 891-855.

Hoping to stay alive in the double-elimination tournament, the Eagles will face the winner of a 9 .m. elimination match between No. 10 Brescia and No. 9 Campbellsville. Midway's match will begin at roughly 11:30 a.m. EST.
