LEXINGTON, Ky. - Midway women's tennis ran its River States Conference record to 3-0 and won its fourth-consecutive match overall as the Eagles didn't drop a set in a 4-0 win over Brescia Thursday.
The match, which ended after the Eagles secured the clinching point, was moved from Midway to the indoor Genesis Health Club in Lexington due to recent weather issues.
The day couldn't have started any better for the Eagles who didn't lose a single game in doubles play.
Tanit Cevada and
Sofia Rueda won 6-0 at the No. 2 position, with
Nana Hishida and
Angelia Herrera winning by the same score No. 3. The No. 1 team of
Agustina Olivero and
Mara Guillen held a 5-0 lead over Jada Flakes and Layla Flakes when their match was called.
Olivero and Guillen would carry that dominance over to their singles matches against the Flakes' with Olivero defeating Jada 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot and Guillen beating Layla 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2.
Cevada was spot-free in singles as well, beating Reagan Lawson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. At No. 4, Hishida won the first set 6-0 against Auna Mclure and led 3-0 in the second as the match concluded.
The Eagles, who are now 7-2 on the season, are in the midst of a three-match-in-three-day stretch that will continue with road RSC tilts against Indiana East and Indiana Kokomo on Friday and Saturday.
Friday's match at IU East is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
