Men's Tennis moves to 4-0 in RSC with win at IU East

RICHMOND, Ind.- The Midway University men's tennis team delivered a powerful performance on the road Friday, securing a decisive 6-1 win over River States Conference foe Indiana East.

Midway came out swinging in doubles, with the duo of German Collado and Ferran Clapes grabbing a 7-5 victory at the No. 1 spot over Kyle Hollingsworth and Jace Wilkerson.

At the No. 2 spot, Manuel Mirabal and Aleksey Granitsa mirrored that scoreline with a 7-5 win of their own, locking up the doubles point.

In singles action, Midway continued to soar. Collado battled through a tiebreak thriller at the top line, outlasting Hollingsworth 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.

Ferran Clapes followed with a clinical 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 3, while Aleksey Granitsa dominated his match 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4.

Manuel Mirabal picked up another straight-set victory, overpowering Clay Conner 6-1, 6-0 at the fifth spot.

Now 4-0 in River States Conference play, the Eagles have just one RSC match left against two-time defending champion Oakland City, the No. 19 team in the country, in Midway next Wendesday. The Mighty Oaks entered the day with a 2-0 record in conference.

Before that, the Eagles will make a short trip to face Georgetown College in a non-conference meet on Tuesday.
