MIDWAY, Ky. - The Midway men's tennis team ended the regular season with two straight matches against nationally ranked teams, falling 7-0 to No. 15 Cumberlands Saturday.
The Patriots won every set, with Midway's best chance coming at No. 3 singles. After losing 6-3 in the first set,
Izan Casado pushed Darius Kuster to the brink in the second before ultimately losing 7-6.
The Eagles finish the regular season with a record of 7-8.
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TEAM GET FIRST-ROUND BYE IN RSC TOURNAMENT
After each made it through the year with only one loss in conference play, the Eagle men and women both earned the No. 2 seed and earned byes into the semifinals of the River State Conference Tournament, which will be played in Evansville, Ind. next Friday and Saturday.
The men's team (4-1 in the RSC) will face the winner of an opening-round match between No. 3 Brescia and No. 6 Indiana East. The women (5-1) will play either IU Kokomo or IU East, who play in the 3-6 matchup, in the semifinals at noon next Thursday.
Both semifinal matches are tentatively scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Eastern time Friday. The men's championship will be played 10 a.m. Saturday with the women playing at 1 p.m.
