Softball finishes with a bang in scoring frenzy sweep over Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Midway sofrball delivered a commanding performance Thursday afternoon, sweeping Brescia (Ky.) in a doubleheader, winning both games by the final of 11-3.

Midway wasted no time, striking for three runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Sawyer Snodgrass, Sierra Bittner and Madison Hill. Snodgrass continued her red-hot day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, while Hill added two hits and three RBIs of her own.

Brescia briefly answered in the second with a sacrifice fly, but Midway took full control in the third. Sydney Apling crushed a two-RBI double to center, and Bittner followed with a groundout that brought in another run, stretching the lead to 6–1.

The Eagles poured it on in the sixth, capitalizing on Brescia errors to plate four unearned runs, including a two-RBI single by Hill. Snodgrass tacked on her fifth RBI of the day with a liner to left in the seventh, scoring Ryann Berger, who had a strong game with two hits and two runs.

Alexia Hoskins earned the win in the circle, tossing two solid innings. The bullpen trio of Sydney Roe, Anna Duncan, and Sierra Bittner combined to keep Brescia in check, surrendering just one earned run over the final five innings.

Midway finished with 12 hits in each game and fully capitalized on Brescia's defensive miscues—six errors total across both contests—while committing just two. The Eagles also asserted themselves on the basepaths, swiping seven bases in game two, led by Snodgrass, Apling, Berger, and Tenley Gilbert.

The sweep lifts Midway to 16–32. The Eagles ended the year on a four-game winning streak, with each of their last three games decided by eight runs.
