Box Score BUCKLEY, W.V. - Slow starts proved costly as Midway women's volleyball lost its River States Conference opener 25-21, 25-22, 25-13 at West Virginia Tech Friday night.
WVU Tech scored the first seven points of the first set and four of the first five in the second, and those early leads helped them hold off Midway's late attempted rallies.
The Golden Bear's were dominant from the start in set three, jumping ahead 19-5 and coasting to a sweep-clinching win.
Lindsey Whitehouse led Midway with 10 assists and tied
Blair Riney with a team-best eight digs while
Mayson Delong had eight kills for Midway, which returns to action for another RSC road matchup at Rio Grande (Ohio) at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
