OWENSBORO, Ky. - After earning a win
in last week's season-opening race, Midway's
Carson Milner had another great showing against strong competition Friday.
Milner finished third in a 74-man field in a time of 18:56.3 at the 6K Panther Prowl in Owensboro, Ky, trailing only a pair of NCAA Division-I runners. His performance helped the Eagles secure a fourth-place finish in the nine-team field.
The only racers to finish ahead of Milner were former Indiana State runner Noah Hufnagle, who ran with the Daviess County Running Club, and current University of Evansville racer James Cruse. Hufnagel won in 18:08.6, with Cruse taking second in 18:48.3.
In one of the tightest battles of the night,
Connor Byrd took 22nd in 20:43.2, just one position and 0.3 seconds ahead of teammate
Jonathan Kocis.
Others competing Friday night were
Lance Logan (29th, 20:53.3),
Steven Meyer (40th, 21:53.6),
Ridge Revers (47th, 22:15.3),
Adam Higgs (53rd, 22:41.6),
Noah Hale (65th, 24:08.7) and
Noah Hampton (68th, 24:29.9).
Midway's next race will be on its home course, as Sept. 19 will bring the Midway Invitational at Falling Springs Park in Versailles.
