With the loss, Midway finishes the season at 3-10-2 overall and 1-5-2 in conference play, while Rio Grande improves to 14-0-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the RSC.

Saturday's contest brought an end to the Eagles' first season under head coach Bryce Brockman, a campaign that included a 2-0 start, a conference road victory and consecutive draws during the final weeks of the season.

First Half

The RedStorm broke through at the 4:09 mark when Stephanie Beaulieu scored off an assist from Amora Albano to give the visitors an early 1-0 advantage.

Midway looked to respond in the 13th minute when Addison Hazlett recorded the Eagles' first shot of the afternoon, forcing Rio Grande goalkeeper Mireia Puigvert Garcia into a save.

The RedStorm doubled their advantage in the 27th minute when Beaulieu found the back of the net for the second time in the contest.

Rio Grande continued its offensive pressure, with Aida Monteserin Torviso striking the crossbar in the 33rd minute.

Just 27 seconds later, Aubree Thomas extended the visitors' lead to 3-0 off an assist from Monteserin Torviso.

Despite the deficit, Midway continued battling, earning three corner kicks during the opening half.

Second Half

Rio Grande continued its offensive pressure following the halftime break, forcing Klee into a pair of early saves.

A Strong Start to the 2026 Season

Despite Saturday's result, Midway's 2026 campaign featured several encouraging moments as the Eagles began a new era under first-year head coach Bryce Brockman.

The Eagles opened the season with consecutive victories at Midway Turf Field, beginning with a 1-0 shutout of Berea College on August 26.

Sloane Pollock scored the lone goal of the contest from the penalty spot, helping Midway secure a victory in Brockman's debut as head coach.

Four days later, Midway improved to 2-0 with a 3-2 victory over Defiance College.

The Eagles' early success provided momentum heading into September, when Midway faced a challenging non-conference schedule that included Indiana Tech, Johnson University, Georgetown College and Campbellsville University.

Although the Eagles were unable to maintain their unbeaten start, the opening victories highlighted the team's ability to compete and provided a foundation for the remainder of the season.

Conference Play and Key Performances

Midway earned its first River States Conference victory of the season on October 1, defeating Kentucky Christian University 2-0 on the road.

The shutout marked the Eagles' third victory of the campaign and their second clean sheet of the season.

The Eagles later battled through a difficult stretch of conference play before finding momentum in the final weeks of October.

On October 18, Midway traveled to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and earned a 3-3 draw in a six-goal contest.

Four days later, the Eagles returned home and played Brescia University to a 1-1 draw at Midway Turf Field.

The consecutive draws gave Midway a two-match unbeaten streak heading into its Senior Day matchup against WVU Tech.

Throughout the season, the Eagles faced several challenging opponents, including nationally ranked Lindsey Wilson University and an unbeaten Rio Grande squad.

The conference schedule provided valuable experience for a roster competing under a new coaching staff.

Recognizing the Senior Class

The 2026 season also marked the final collegiate campaign for several members of the Midway women's soccer program.

Prior to the Eagles' October 29 matchup against WVU Tech, Midway recognized six seniors as part of Senior Day festivities.

The Eagles honored Guadalupe Torres, Belle Dotson, Autumn Logan, Rebekah Phelps, Chloe Kemper and Courtney Milner.

The group provided leadership and experience throughout the season while helping guide the program through its first year under Brockman.

Their contributions extended beyond the field, as they represented Midway University throughout their collegiate careers.

The senior class played an important role in helping establish the foundation for the program's future.

Looking Back at 2026

Midway concludes the 2026 season with three victories, 10 losses and two draws.

The Eagles recorded victories over Berea, Defiance and Kentucky Christian while earning conference draws against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and Brescia.

Midway's defense recorded two shutouts during the campaign, both coming in victories.

The Eagles also demonstrated their ability to compete in close contests, including a one-goal victory over Berea, a 3-2 win against Defiance and their two conference draws.

With the 2026 season now complete, Midway will turn its attention toward the offseason as Brockman and his staff look to build upon the experience gained during their first year leading the program.

The Eagles will look to develop their returning players, strengthen their roster and continue building toward future success in the River States Conference.
