CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - Midway men's and women's tennis began the 2026 season in a tough road environment against NCAA Division-II Thomas More on Friday.
The Eagle men got multiple wins from newcomers
Ricardo Starosta and
Mudiwa Munyimani but fell 5-2, while the women lost 7-0.
MEN'S RESULTS
Starosta, a junior transfer, and Munyimani, a freshman, began their day with a 7-6 win over Magnus Hauska and Raphael Delente at No. 1 doubles.
The Midway pair then got the best of their doubles counterparts in singles. Starosta beat Delented 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1, and Munyimani defeated Hauska 7-6 (7-4 tie-breaker) 6-3 at No. 2.
But the Saints proved too strong elsewhere, winning every other match in straight sets.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
Thomas More dominated from the start, winning every set in singles and doubles.
The best effort came at No. 2 singles, where
Emma Pheiffer lost the opening set 6-1 then went deep into set two before losing 7-5 to Ella Cason.
The men and women will be back in action on Feb. 26, traveling to Pikeville at 1 p.m.
