Women's tennis clubs IUK, stays perfect in RSC

MIDWAY, Ky. - The Midway women's tennis team won its fourth match in a row in convincing fashion, topping Indiana Kokomo 6-1 in a River States Conference home matchup Saturday.

Midway's top two players set the tone by dropping just three total games. The pair of Alicia Sanglas Sanglas and Emma Pheiffer topped Kennedy Perrin and Ava Allen 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.

Pheiffer then proceeded to snag a 6-0, 6-0 win over Chloe Schmidt at No. 2 singles, with Sanglas Sanglas also dominating to the tune of 6-1, 6-1 over Allen at No. 1.

Tanit Cevada Cruz and Raigan Allbert also had relatively easy days, starting with their 6-2 victory over Schmidt and Kennedy Horner at No. 2 doubles.

Cruz then beat Perrin 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, with Allbert topping Breanna Koester 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4.

Capping the scoring was Haley Thompson, who had her best day of the season. She and Caitlin Wright defeated Koester and Molly Farkas 6-3 at No. 3 doubles, before Thompson defeated Farkas 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 5 singles spot.

The Eagles improve to 4-1 overall with a 3-0 record in the RSC. They return to conference action immediately with an 11 a.m. home match against Indiana East on Sunday.

The meeting with IU East was originally slated to be played on Friday, but was moved due to rain.
