MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway upped its win streak to five, taking down a short-handed Indiana East 5-2 in a River States Conference women's tennis match Sunday.
Against a Red Wolves team that had just five players, the Eagles dropped a mere 11 total games at the top three singles positions.
Alicia Sanglas Sanglas defeated Chantelle Mapondera 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1,
Emma Pheiffer beat Gracie Helms 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 and
Tanit Cevada Cruz topped Lauren Miller 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3.
Sanglas, Pheiffer and Cevada are all 5-0 in singles play during the Eagles' win streak.
The trio helped Midway secure the doubles point as well. Pheiffer and Sanglas beat Helms and Brooke Schafstall 6-0 at No. 1, while Cevada and
Raigan Allbert beat Lexi Wennen and Lauren Miller 6-2 at No. 2.Â
Both the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles positions were won via forfeit.
At 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the RSC, the Eagles will face a significant, non-conference challenge on Tuesday when they travel to face Lindsey Wilson, the No. 2-ranked team in the country, at 2 p.m.
